Privacy policy
This policy covers webdevilstudios.com. The short version: there is no form on this site, we collect no contact details unless you send them to us, and the one analytics tool we run can be switched off from your browser.
1. Who is responsible
Web Devil Studios LLC is a limited liability company based in Lehi, Utah, operated by Nate Sargeant. We decide what this site collects, which makes us the controller of that information.
Questions, or a request about your data, go to nate@webdevilstudios.com.
2. What you give us directly
There is no contact form, newsletter signup, or account on this site. Nothing here accepts typed input, so there is no field for us to store and nothing for us to mask.
You can reach us three ways, and each is different:
- Email or phone. We receive whatever you choose to send: your name, your number, and what you wrote. We keep it as ordinary business correspondence for as long as we are talking, and afterwards for as long as we may need it for records or tax purposes.
- Booking a call. Our scheduling page is hosted by Calendly, a separate company. When you book, you are on their site and giving your details to them; they pass us the booking. Their privacy policy applies to what happens there, not this one.
We do not sell or share this information, we do not add you to a marketing list because you booked a call, and we do not send marketing text messages.
3. Analytics: what PostHog records
We use PostHog, a product analytics service operated by PostHog, Inc., to understand which pages people read and which ones lead to a booked call. PostHog processes this on our instructions, on PostHog Cloud US, which is hosted in the United States.
What it records:
- pages you view, and the order you view them in
- clicks on links and buttons (which element, and its text and attributes)
- the page you arrived from, and any campaign parameters in the link you followed
- browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, and timezone
- your approximate location (country, region, and city), worked out from your IP address
- a random identifier that lets us tell one repeat visitor from another
What it does not record:
- Session replay is switched off. We do not record your mouse movements, your scrolling, or a video of your session. This is disabled in our code, not only in a settings page, so turning it on would require a change to this site, and a change to this policy.
- No form input, because there are no forms. Nothing on this site accepts typed text.
- No error or exception tracking. Switched off.
- No surveys or feature flags shown to you. Switched off.
- We never ask for, and never store, payment details anywhere on this site.
A data processing agreement is in place with PostHog, Inc. governing how they handle this data on our behalf. Their own privacy policy is at posthog.com/privacy.
4. Cookies and browser storage
This site sets one cookie, and it belongs to PostHog. It stores the random visitor identifier described above. PostHog also keeps the same identifier in your browser's local storage and session storage.
It is a non-essential analytics cookie. The site works completely without it. We set no advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels, and no cross-site trackers. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, and no ad platform tag anywhere on this site.
5. How to turn tracking off
Three ways, strongest first:
- Turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser. We honor both. When either signal is present, analytics does not run at all. Nothing is recorded and no cookie is set. This is the cleanest option because it applies everywhere, not just here.
- Block the analytics domain, using any content blocker.
Blocking
us.i.posthog.comstops it entirely. - Clear or block cookies for this site in your browser settings. You will be counted as a new visitor next time, which is fine by us.
Analytics also never runs until after the page has finished loading, so nothing about it delays what you came to read.
6. How long we keep things
- Analytics events: kept by PostHog for the retention period set on our account, then deleted by them automatically. We do not keep a separate copy, do not export it anywhere, and do not feed it into any other tool.
- Session recordings: none exist, so none are kept.
- Email and phone correspondence: for as long as we are in contact, and afterwards for as long as needed for business records and tax purposes.
- Server logs: this site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard access logs under its own retention policy.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. Email nate@webdevilstudios.com and we will respond within 45 days, which is the timeframe California law sets and which we apply to everyone regardless of where you live.
We will not treat you differently for asking. There is no service to withdraw and no discount to lose.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as California defines those terms.
Because analytics identifiers are random and are not linked to your name, we usually cannot tell which records are yours from an email address alone. If you want analytics data deleted, the quickest route is to clear the cookie for this site, but write to us and we will do what we can.
8. Visitors from the UK and EU
This studio serves Utah County and the United States. We do not market to the UK or the EU, and this policy is not written as a full GDPR disclosure. If you are reading from there anyway, two things are worth saying plainly.
Our basis for running analytics is legitimate interest: understanding which pages are useful, on a small marketing site, with no profiling, no advertising, and no session recording. We think that is proportionate. You may disagree, and if you do, turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track before browsing and nothing will be collected.
We do not currently show a cookie consent banner. If you are an EU visitor and you would rather we had asked first, that is a fair criticism, and the browser signal above is the honest answer we can give today.
9. Children
This site is for business owners. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
10. Changes
If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. Enabling session recording, adding a form, or adding an advertising pixel would each require an update here before it shipped.
